"Overcome" Lyrics

Seated above, enthroned in the Father's love
Destined to die, poured out for all mankind
God's only Son, perfect and spotless one
He never sinned but suffered as if He did

All authority
Every victory is Yours
All authority
Every victory is Yours

Savior, worthy of honor and glory
Worthy of all our praise, You overcame
Jesus, awesome in power forever
Awesome and great is Your name, You overcame

Power in hand speaking the Father's plan
You're sending us out, light in this broken land

We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb
And the word of our testimony, everyone overcome

Reflection:

We sometimes question whether or not we can overcome the battles of life. Perhaps it's an addiction of some sort, a family problem which seems to only worsen or a relationship in which we have hurt or have been hurt by someone we are supposed to love. Can we overcome? Not on our own, but Jesus tells us with God all things are possible. As Jeremy Camp's song Overcome reminds us, God's love is poured out for us in Jesus. Stop for a moment and reflect on that one verse of the song: "He never sinned but suffered as if he did." Jesus was willing to suffer for us for only one reason: He loves us. This is why we can overcome any addiction, any problem, any hurt and any situation which seems to be hopelessly impossible--because of the victory of Christ on the cross. Are you hurting? Does all seem impossible to overcome? Turn to Jesus...just open your heart to Jesus. He will help you to overcome.

Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me."

Luke 18:27 - "Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God."
