"This Is Amazing Grace" Lyrics

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory

Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy
Oh...

Reflection:

Amazing Grace is one of the best known Christian songs in the world. Phil Wickham's version of this classic offers an upbeat and profoundly worded experience, which directly speaks to the heart. The words, "You'd lay down Your life that I would be set free. Oh, Jesus, I sing for all that You've done for me" reminds us of the price Jesus has paid for our freedom. Who could refuse to sing to our Savior, when we reflect upon all God does for us every day. So often we find ourselves in chains of our own making; chains of sin, deception, conceit and darkness. By dying for us, Jesus has set us free. It is Jesus, as Phil Wickham reminds us, who "brings our chaos back into order; who makes the orphan a son and daughter." This indeed is amazing grace!

Psalm 118:5 - "Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free."

Galatians 5:13 - "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."
