"Joseph's Lullaby" Lyrics:

Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Or does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
But Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my Son
Baby, close Your eyes
Soon enough You'll save the day
But for now, dear Child of mine
Oh my Jesus, Sleep tight

Reflection:

We reflect, in this Christmas season, on the faithfulness of Saint Joseph. This beautiful song, Joseph's Lullaby, encourages us to understand the Nativity of our Savior from the perspective of Joseph, who made a conscious decision to adhere to the invitation of God to take Mary into his home and Jesus into his life. How many times Joseph must have held Jesus in his arms; how many times he must have whispered to him similar words expressed in this song: "Go to sleep my Son...baby, close your eyes. Soon enough You'll save the day but for now, dear Child of mine, Oh, my Jesus, sleep tight..." In this new year of 2015, let us take time, like Saint Joseph, and rest with Jesus in our arms.

Matthew 1:20-24"...the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home"

Luke 2:4-7 -"And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn"
