"Mary Did You Know?" Lyrics:

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know that your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered
Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will calm a storm with His hand?

Did you know that your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
When you've kissed your little baby

Then you've kissed the face of God
Mary, did you know?
Mary, did you know?

The blind will see, the deaf will hear
The dead will live a-gain
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will one day rule the nations?

Did you know
That your baby boy is Heaven's perfect Lamb
And the sleeping child you're holding
Is the great, I am

Mary

Reflection:

What I love most about this time of year is contemplating Jesus as an infant.  Throughout the year, I only think of Christ as a teacher and preacher, and of course what he did for us in his suffering, death, and resurrection.  But during this time of year, we are called to focus on Christ’s birth.  To think of Christ as an infant, being nursed and cared for by Mary and Joseph just as any infant is, is truly amazing.  To think that our God came down from heaven and took on our human nature is a mystery in and of itself; that Jesus Christ the immortal one, came down to redeem the mortal ones.  What an awesome God we have!  And it all started in a stable.  Not in some grand castle surrounded by servants, which would have been justifiable, but in a lowly stable surrounded by farm animals and some shepherds.  How humble is our God!  When we consider all this, we can then also wonder the same questions that are asked in this song: “Mary did you know that…” Because, honestly, who would’ve guessed that this baby would grow up to do all those things listed in this song?  During this Christmas season, let us all rejoice in the love and humility that our God has.  He loves us so much that he came down from heaven to be one of us, to live among us, and to ultimately die for us, so that one day we can live with him in heaven.  May all of you have a very blessed and joyous Christmas season and may our Infant Savior bless us all.

Philippians 2:5-8 – “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.”

“The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods.” – St. Thomas Aquinas
